1.     Pachmarhi Hill Station, Madhya Pradesh

Pachmarhi, also known as the “Queen of Satpuras” is the perfect escape from the daily hustle bustle of the city! 226 km away from Nagpur city, sits Pachmarhi hill station at an elevation of 3500 feet, making it the highest point in Madhya Pradesh! This scenic hill station will greet you with breathtaking views of verdant forests, misty waterfalls, historical monuments, hidden trekking trails, and monolithic caves. On your day out exploring the neighborhood, do trek your way up to visit the majestic and picturesque Bee Falls, Duchess Falls, Apsara Vihar and Rajat Prapat Falls! According to the folklore, the Pandavas stayed in the caves of Pachmarhi during their exile- do explore these 5 monolithic Pandava caves and also the Jata Shankar caves that protected Lord Shiva from the evil of Bhasmasur! We definitely recommend you to end your evening at Dhoopgarh which is a vantage point where you can sit and watch the sun set behind the majestic Satpuras!

2.     Waki Woods

Situated at a distance of about 30 km from Nagpur, Waki Woods is the scenic escape that we all need! If your ideal weekend getaway involves pitching a tent in the middle of the woods and spending the night under the stars with occasional hoots from wild owls, then Waki Woods is for you! The best part is that you can get the entire camping experience without having to give up on comfort as you will find fully furnished tents with facilities like electricity and phones! This is not all; you could indulge in activities such as archery, trekking or boating, and as the sun sets, roast some marshmallows over the bonfire! 3.     Chikhaldara Hill Station

If you’re on the lookout for some time away from the city to be one with nature, you must head over to Chikhaldara, which is a hill station in Maharashtra, about 230 km from Nagpur. Perched up at an altitude of 3900 feet, this lush hill station will welcome you with the refreshing scent of coffee that is grown on the hills! Chikhaldara also offers some scenic sites that you can explore during your weekend stay here, such as the magnificent Bhimkund Waterfall, the Melghat Tiger Reserve and the historic Gwaligarh Fort and Narnala Fort, both of which offer stunning views of the azure Satpura Ranges!

4.     Khekranala

Nestled amidst the verdant Khapa range, Khekranala is an ideal trekking destination, situated at a distance of about 60 km from the city of Nagpur. Khekranala has a beautiful dam set atop a picturesque turquoise lake, where you could enjoy various water sports, and the shore of which is also a base camp for trekking. 5.    Pench Tiger Reserve

Do you remember Rudyard Kipling’s famous novel called ‘The Jungle Book’? Well, the inspiration for the book was drawn from Pench National Park – where the gurgling Pench River flows through the lush forest which is a home to the Royal Bengal Tiger and many other wild animals! The Pench National Park remains open to visitors from 1st October to 30th June each year. So for your weekend escapade during these months head over to Pench National Park and book either an open jeep safari or a boat safari to catch a glimpse of the wildlife, tribal life and also to see some temples along the way!
