In Bollywood films, the best locations in India always appear in the most memorable scenes. Do you want to see what all these famous movies have gathered for your enjoyment? Bollywood contributes significantly to the Indian tourism industry. When you see your favorite movie star having so much fun in those exotic Indian travel destinations, you get to learn more about them, right? Isn't that right?

The Golden Temple – Amritsar, Punjab

Amritsar's Golden Temple is almost synonymous with its gold-encrusted top half. Among the holiest shrines of the Sikh faith, this majestic temple is part of the larger gurdwara complex known as Harmandir Sahib. Pilgrims from all over the world come to Amritsar to bathe in the holy water surrounding the shimmering shrine. Water here is believed to have healing powers, and it is no wonder that this location is known as one of India's most spiritual sites!

In the movie Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, the iconic Golden Temple appeared during the sad version of the song "Tujh Mein Rab Dikhta Hai". Anushka Sharma portrays the divine aura of this location beautifully as Taani (Anushka Sharma) realizes she saw God in Raj (Shah Rukh Khan). Truly, it was a scene that brought tears to many Bollywood fans!

Chapora Fort and Fort Aguada, Goa

North Goa's Chapora Fort and Fort Aguada were built in 1617 and 1612, respectively. In Dil Chahta Hai, Akash, Sameer, and Sid have their iconic dramatic talk at Chapora Fort, a hill near Morjim beach. The cast of Honeymoon Travels visited Fort Aguada during their day trip. Several of your favorite Bollywood movies have been filmed at these locations. In addition, they have appeared in Bollywood blockbusters like Dhoom, Golmaal, Rangeela, and many more. India's Goa is one of the coolest Bollywood locations.

Pangong Tso Lake – Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir

Pangong Tso Lake, one of Asia's largest saltwater lakes, stretches 150km from India to Tibet. With its deepest shades of blue and its sandy, snow-brushed mountain backdrop, Pangong Tso looks like something straight out of a museum. It was first featured in the romantic thriller film Dil Se in 1998 that first made this location famous. However, most people will remember the Pangong Tso Lake in Ladakh as the setting for the final scene of the 2009 hit film 3 Idiots, in which Kareena Kapoor meets Aamir Khan in her bridal dress. And who could forget Shah Rukh Khan riding through Ladakh in the opening scene of Jab Tak Hai Jaan? Biker road trips to Ladakh are popular. The state is the least populated in India, and its isolation makes it one of the best spots in the world for stargazing.

Hadimba Mandir, Manali

The ancient cave temple of Hadimba in the Himalayan foothills is dedicated to Bhima's wife, the strongest of the Pandavas. Mani Ratnam immortalized it in Roja as the place where Roja loses the love of her life, Rishikumar. It was recently re-glorified in Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani as the place where Bunny tries to explain to Naina why marriage is futile.

Visit the Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani shooting location in Manali and you will feel like a Bollywood buff when you see this temple.

The Oberoi Udaivilas – Udaipur, Rajasthan

Oberoi Udaivilas is one of India's most unique luxury hotels. This establishment lies on the two-century-old hunting grounds of the Maharana of Mewar and spans an impressive 50 acres on the banks of Lake Pichola. A 20-acre wildlife conservatory is also located on the premises. Intricate artifacts and dome structures, marble pavilions, and beautifully manicured courtyards are all designed to evoke the ambiance of a royal residence. Staying here would fulfill your dream of a destination wedding or honeymoon.

This list would not be complete without the Oberoi Udaivilas in Udaipur. Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani was an iconic movie that brought attention to Udaipur. Remember Aditi's (Kalki Koechlin) big fat Indian wedding and the song "Kabira"? Those scenes were beautifully shot here!

Rohtang Pass Manali

Indian filmmakers aren't just enamored with Kashmir and Manali. Rohtang Pass is one of the many geographical wonders around Manali that made it onto the list of "Bollywood film shooting locations". It has appeared in movies such as Jab We Met and Highway. For bikers, this has become heaven. We've all fantasized about riding that spine-chilling stretch of the snow-covered road, haven't we?

Athirapally and Vazhachal Falls – Thrissur, Kerala

Athirapally and Vazhachal Falls are twin waterfalls in Kerala's picturesque Thrissur district. Athirapally Falls, the largest waterfall in Kerala, is known as the Niagara Falls of India. Despite its name, Vazhachal Falls is a river that cascades over rocks, creating the illusion of a waterfall. It is also a popular picnic spot amongst the locals, so pick up some hearty Indian food from the nearby town of Chalakudy before heading there.

Bollywood, Malayalam, and Tamil films have been filmed here, including the blockbuster Baahubali. Both falls were used for filming, including the scene where Baahubali transports the deity's statue.
